This piece is an artistically enhanced version of a photo I took in Old Havana in September 2024. It is part of a series of photographs I took for Captured Landscapes: Cuba - New York, a multimedia project I am working on with Elio Villafranca, a Cuban jazz pianist and composer.
I added a sense of motion to the original picture, to bring the feeling of that Havana late-summer afternoon closer to the viewer. The houses seem to have become fluid from the heat of the sun, while people walk by, undisturbed, facing whatever comes. The picture exists at the crossroads of photography and expressionist painting. Perfect choice for sharing deeper meaning, creative travel and art-photography.
